Yesterday was Jessi's Endo visit.
It went well.
She actually paid attention to the Dr.......for a minute.
He said we were doing great according to the downloaded pump information.
He even said if he had to guess the A1C, he'd say 7.9-8.0.
YES!
See, a couple of visits ago my husband asked the Dr. why she had to have blood drawn every two months we come in. He knew why, but he explained that she goes through so much torture daily it just seemed overkill every two months. The Dr. agreed with him and said that there would be no harm in doing an A1C every other visit...which puts it at every 4 months. The Dr. said he felt we were doing well enough that she wouldn't suffer going 4 months. It was new to us the two month check ups, but that's routine for a pump user compared to daily injection use 3 month check ups. So chalk one up for James and his logic to "fix" situations for our benefit.
I was a little concerned about Jes and how HUGE her belly was getting, and right away I panicked and thought Celiac. Although we researched and the only symptom would be her distended belly, all other symtoms weren't present at all. I expressed my concerns about it to the Dr. and he believes it to be her growth/weight gain and of course the hormones....insulin and normal. He did check her history and said that he likes to test every 2 years anyway for Celiac as a precautionary measure, so next visit in October when she has her A1C draw they will test for Celiac as well even though the Dr. thinks she's fine. (she's never been tested for it by the way) So my jump to conclusion was put to rest and I'm thankful her Dr. is compassionate and just as concerned as we are and that he's flexible according to the needs of our family.
So I was a bit "peacocked" yesterday with the whole 7.9-8.0 thing.........hey, 8.0 is a big deal for us because we are NEVER that close to 7's!! We officially got the 8.0 two months ago for the A1C draw and to hear we'd be around the same.....woo hoo! I know her Dr. is really good at what he does, hense the Endo title, so I trust his judgement by documentation guess! Now next time I'll really be "peacocking" if we are actually proofed to be in the 7's!
Even though we hate this disease........we're so blessed to have the Endo we do, it makes things deal-able!
