Playoff Game

Saturday was the first playoff game for Jessi's team. The game was at 9:15 and if they won, they moved up and didn't have to play until Dec. 5th. If they lost, they had to play again Saturday and if they won that game,they would move up in the loser playoff, or lose and be done.

They won! 9-3

At first, they were tie...the other team would score, they would score....then it was 3-3 at half time. I think the girls finally realized this wasn't just a game, that the other team really wanted to beat them. Coach had been telling them that they were the team everyone was gunning for. With a no loss season and only one tie, the teams in the playoffs want to crush our girls.
So they kicked it up a notch! Opened a can! The club level girls controlled the game, but all the girls worked pretty good together. Jessi tried her best, and that girl is getting so good! She defended the goal really well, and even made good decisions on when to lay back so the other teammate could do their thing. I was impressed with that. Teamwork...good girl!

Such a great game! Both teams played such an excellent game. The goalie on the opposite team is a classmate of Jes' and she blocked a whole buncha shots! Gotta give those girls credit, they played their little hearts out and they looked so sad when they came around for the high fives from the parents.....that was hard to see even though we were happy our girls won. They really tried hard, as did our girls..........but when your gunnin' for us......don't bring bb guns!

Over this Thanksgiving weekend our girls are going to play in the Turkey Tournament. Games will start Friday and go through Sunday. They might have two games a day, but they'll get to experience tournament type playing and maybe that will help the girls kick it up when they resume the regular playoffs on Dec. 5th.

I guess we're officially a soccer family, but I don't want the title of soccer mom cause they're ruthless! The playoff game was crazy! And that was just parents on the sidelines! I'm glad our team is winning, but it isn't everything. Sadly, I think some parents have forgotten that this is for fun, but I'm sure it's in every sport. As long as Jessi's having fun, that's all that counts!
