FRICKEN' COLD!

Yeah, I'm a whimp!

It was fricken' cold this morning!

There was frost on the rooftops and the grass!

It actually got down to 39 degrees last night! In my area!

Now you've got to remember that I'm used to 70-80 degree weather. No amount of my childhood midwest existence is in my bones anymore. I'm flat out spoiled by the California warmth! And I was freezing my patootie off this morning!

I even drove my youngest to school today instead of walking the 2 blocks! What a sad sorry existence I lead now.....

You midwesterners can pretty much count out a winter visit from me......ever! Naw, my family would actually love it with the snow and all. But I guarantee they'd be whinin' after an hour! Oh, yes they would be a whinin'!

How sad to think I grew up in the coldest of cold during winters and I can't stand it now! I know some people can't stand or tolerate the heat, but I'd choose heat any day over cold! It's alot easier to cool down than it is to warm up. I remember my dad changing out the windows in winter to storm windows and then back again in the summer. Totally weird concept to me. Even the changing to snow tires on the cars. Thank goodness the only time we slide around is on rainy day streets instead of icy streets. (and don't get me started on those morons)

Though I sure do miss "skitching". That was always fun. Especially when you held onto the back of the school bus as it pulled away. Not so fun whiping out, some serious road rash. And since my street was on a sorta slant, it was fun to run in the middle of it and skitch on your gym shoes in the ice for like 20 feet. Again with the road rash if you weren't good at it.

And there really is nothing like a good snowball fight. You know, the kind you hurt or get hurt in!

I remember vividly the blizzard of '76. Making all these cool tunnels in the front yard using the snow that the snow plows piled up and blocked the driveways with. Even tunneling into the neighbors' yards. Fun for us, not the folks I'm sure, they had to shovel it. (ha ha) Though I did my share of that too.

So if you're experiencing cold weather right now, I suppose I'll be quiet. The memories are more fun right now than the actual cold, remember, I did admit I was a whimp.

I heard it was going to get in the 70's today and the rest of the week was going to be warm also. So, I'll just take my warm weather and wish all the rest of you a low gas/oil bill to keep you warm this winter. I hope you have fun in whatever snow you may get, and stay safe on the streets with all those other bad drivers and that you remain healthy too.
