Got a little of this going on today. Making things quite muggy....errr.....humid. For us out here anyway.
Kinda cool, you can hear thunder rolling around in the occasional dark cloud that appears outta nowhere.
There's just enough rain to make my newly washed car look totally dirty again. I put alot of effort into windexing those windows dangit!
So last Wednesday Jessi had her 3 month check up with her Endocrinologist. He's such a great Dr.. Not that her other Dr. wasn't, but she's been replaced by this guy and I look at it like this....Dr. Aquino was there for diagnosis and through Jes' injection years. Then she steps aside to Family Medicine and Dr. Moghaddas steps in to take over. So he's now here for Jes during her pump years and on.
He's so on the level with you as a parent/caregiver and he talks to Jessi in a way that she can understand without being too doctor-ie. Though she acts so shy in the office (where'd that come from?!) and the hard part is she hates being at those appointments so she's very distracting with all her moving around and "I'm bored" "I wanna go" crap, but the Dr. doesn't give her any looks, he engages her in conversation and even explains how she needs to pay attention because she needs to learn how to help mom care for her because she's old enough to be responsible for herself and she should be taking care of her checker and supplies too.
She half heartedly listens...probably thinking "yeah, whatever"....but it works.
So he checked out infusion sites on her tummy and said they looked good, healing fine. Then asks how come she doesn't like to put her sites near her backside or further to the side of her tummy, and explains how some other patients do it. We told him she's just not comfortable, and he was fine with it, not pushy or condescending. (not to mention Jessi just about flipped when she heard him say she could try it one day...she refuses)
Main thing I was told is not to expect any miraculous changes with blood sugar levels, that it does take time and adjustments with the pump, but it will come. He said some people have unrealistic expectations and just wanted to be sure that I wasn't discouraged. He did say to tighten up carb counts and make sure she has 45-60 carbs per meal according to age level and growth at this point. Oh yeah, and something about a schedule.........he noticed her dark circles and actually asked if it could be make up. (nice way of saying "get a schedule lady!" ) Ok point taken...........workin on it......really.......sigh
After that it was down to the basement for the blood draw..........painless, the lady was good, no bruise this time at all........wrote her name down for next time.
results.....................8.2...........
I think last time it was 8.7..............progress! It's been a long time since we've seen the low 8's so this is good for now. Maybe next time we'll see even better numbers seeing that it'll be the first time all three months have the pump. This was good for a month and a half of being on the pump.
Now don't get me started on how banged up that pump is.......................
