Last Thursday Jessi's school went on a field trip and I got to go as a parent helper. (duh, I'm field trip priority.......jealous?)
These are some of the pictures.........
This is my group... the stingrays.
We went out on the ocean on the boat behind the kids. (that's one of Jes' best friends next to her)
Beautiful coastline.
Learned the difference between sea lions and seals.
Saw a Mexican hat Jelly....don't call this a jellyfish b'cuz it doesn't swim.
Dropping a scooper down 101 feet to get some mud. Later on the kids get to dig through this for creatures that live in the mud. They use special plastic tweezers...
"I'm the king of the world!"
The highlight of the day........a pod of dolphins! Pods are usually 100 or so dolphins, but this one was special.....1,000's of dolphins! The captain said this was very rare to see so many in a pod. The kids were so excited! It actually was an awesome sight!
They were everywhere!
Remember the mud? After it was rinsed off, they got to pick for critters and then go identify them.
They got to identify and touch snails and starfish.
And they learned about Spongebob's little friend....Plankton.
Don't think they were too thrilled when they found out that those critters under the magnifying glass and on the tv screen were what they swallowed when they took a gulp of ocean water by accident!
Keep those grants coming....this is one field trip worth every penny!!
